Important eBook Announcement

According to a story on Baekdal.com, Microsoft's lawsuit with Eolas Technologies will hold up the release of upgraded eBooks, as well as upgraded and completed videos to AWCAOnline.

Apparently, the embedded Flash controls are the problem with this licensing lawsuit, and since that's what I've been moving things to, there will be a problem. The website can still move forward because not everyone uses IE for viewing the Internet. The eBooks, however, is another story.

The compiler I use, eBook Pro, uses components of Internet Explorer. And because my Flash videos are built with those components in mind, that will be a big problem for upgrades and enhancements. So long story short, until I learn more about what's happening, the release of upgrades will suffer. Even keeping them in WMV format and playing them in Windows Media Player will be a pain, because Media Player uses Flash technology. So the controls there will be effected, too.

I'll still keep working on everything, trust me. Things will get sorted out, and the videos WILL play. That's not the problem; the real problem is that you won't be able to control them like you normally can now in Flash, and that was the whole reason of moving to them.

But, I just wanted to get you updated with what's happening. Hopefully a resolution will be created so that we're not all impacted that much, but don't hold your breath. eBooks really got hammered when SP2 was released, and from what I'm hearing, this will be worse.

We can only hope for the best.
