eBook Announcement, Part 2

Well, it looks like the whole Microsoft/ Eolas Technologies lawsuit thing was more "fluff" than anything else. Yes, there's a change, but it's not as bad as we were all reading it would be. And surprisingly, it doesn't affect any of the videos you see on AWCAOnline.

Basically, to get a video running that's built in Flash, you put your cursor on it. You'll see a message pop up that says something similar to "Click to Activate this control," and after clicking the screen, everything works as usual.

Is it a pain? Yes; to always have to click a video just to activate it is a pain. But is it "catastrophic" or some big deal like the articles said it would be? Not in the least. So you click once to make things work. Big deal. :o)

Now, why don't you have to do that with AWCAOnline videos? Good question, and unfortunately, I don't have an answer for you. The videos were originally WMV format, converted to Flash format, then I used a Dreamweaver plugin that creates the Flash interface. Maybe something is "built in" that doesn't use the previous technology in question? Must be, because I've tested them on different machines and have never had to click anything to "activate" them other than "play."

So, long story short, no big deal. Work continues as usual so that's very good news.
